Ruth A. Sweeny

Ruth Ann Sweeny, age 94, of Aurora, Ohio, formerly of Twinsburg, Ohio; born June 6, 1928, in Belle Plaine, Iowa; died October 30, 2022 in Aurora, Ohio.  Daughter of the late Lewis and Anna Rychnovsky; former wife of the late Edward J. Sweeny, Jr.; dear sister of Marcella Kucera and Donald Rychnovsky (both deceased).  Ruth Ann is survived by her loving children, Diane Sweeny Trowbridge and Dan Sweeny (Maria); grandmother of Katherine (Sweeny) Halley, Roger Sweeny, Brian Sweeny, Allan Sweeny, Michael Trowbridge (Renee), Heather Elliott, Scott Flowers, and Jack Flowers; great grandmother of Julius, Joseph, Jasper, and Eli. Ruth graduated from Iowa State University where she majored in Education.  Afterwards she taught high school Mathematics before joining her husband in his family business (Cleveland Plumbing & Heating Co. and Ed Sweeny Engineering). She was an active volunteer with Sister Henrietta’s charities in Cleveland, Ohio, Meals on Wheels, and multiple church activities at St. Margaret Mary Church and SS. Cosmas & Damian Church.  Ruth’s main passions in life were her faith, gardening, and her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SS. Cosmas & Damian Catholic Church, 10419 Ravenna Rd., Twinsburg, Ohio, on Wednesday, November 16, at 10:00 am, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 until time of mass. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.  In lieu of flowers, Ruth requested donations may be sent to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W.
