Maria Zarlino

MARIA ZARLINO, age 88, of Bedford. Beloved wife of the late Joseph V. Zarlino;  loving mother of Robert (Kathy), Paulette, Rosemarie (Dan) Santos, John, Marlene (Randy) Gale and Mark ( Marie); sister of John, Evil, Romero and Augusto Gualandri (all residing in Italy); dear Nonna Maria of 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Maria was born April 23, 1934 in Rome, Italy, to Paolo and Fenisia Gualandri (both deceased). She arrived from Italy at age 19 after marrying Joseph in 1953. Maria and Joe started their family in Ellsworth, PA before moving to Ohio. They resided in Bedford since 1970 where they raised their six children. Maria loved her family and friends and you could often find her at Bingo halls or playing pinochle or canasta with them. She loved to sew; she learned this skill from the Nuns while she was attending school in Vatican City, Rome. She was a fabulous Italian cook and a master cookie baker and enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, her favorite destination. Mom needed extra care the past several years and was able to stay at home with the support of her daughter Paulette. The family would like to thank her caregivers: Maria, Joann, Donna, Laura and Tina. Maria passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.  Friends received at ST. JOHN FUNERAL HOME, 923 BROADWAY AVE., BEDFORD (ONE MILE WEST OF THE FORBES-BROADWAY EXIT OF I-271), FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9 FROM 12:30 P.M. - 2:00 P.M., WITH A CLOSING SERVICE AT 1:45 P.M. BURIAL TO FOLLOW AT BEDFORD CEMETERY.
