Leonard J. Cosentino

With a profound sense of gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Leonard Joseph Cosentino on September 25th, 2023 at the age of 83. Appropriately, he was at home surrounded by his beloved family, which is how he enjoyed living each day.

Lenny (also known as Tano) had an unmatched charisma and an unwavering love for his family and friends – all of whom he readily and happily expanded to include everyone he met. He touched countless lives with his generosity, compassion, gregarious personality and delicious Italian cooking!  The depth and breadth of the love he gave and received from so many is his legacy.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Josephine and Leo Cosentino, he graduated from Brush High School in South Euclid in 1958 and then served in the US Army as a cook until 1959. Afterwards, he earned his beautician license and opened Tano’s Salon in 1965 where he served clients and colleagues for over 50 years. He also owned and operated, alongside friends and family, Village Square Pizza, Rosie’s Place, and Chag Town Cafe.

He married his high school sweetheart, Joanna Cardarelli, in 1961, and they enjoyed a beautiful marriage for 62 years. He loved watching football and epic poker games with friends and family.  Most of all he enjoyed cooking for everyone and hosting Sunday pasta dinners for his family where he modeled love, joy and selflessness, qualities rooted in the hearts of all those who tasted his famous spaghetti sauce and cutlets. In this way, he glorified his Heavenly Father with his Christ-like hospitality.

Lenny enjoyed life with and is survived by his wife Joanna, three sons – Lenny (wife Renee), David (fiancé Evalyn Naylor) and Michael, his sister Frances Cosentino (partner David Miller), 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the Cosentino, Cardarelli, Vinci and Siciliano families, and a whole host of friends who are like family to him!

Some years ago, Lenny became a follower of Jesus and now resides with Him! We will cherish the memories and love Lenny shared with us until we see him again, and then forever. Salute, Papa!
