Lawrence F. Malik, March 11, 1935 — June 17, 2024 (age 89) Lawrence Frank Malik, age 89, passed away peacefully at Cleveland Clinic on June 17, 2024, with his daughters by his side. Commonly known as “Larry”, he was a proud 1953 graduate of Benedictine High School and was a resident of Bedford for 23 years. Larry was born in Cleveland, OH to the late Slava and Helen Malik (Dezort). While being a devoted Roman Catholic and a diehard Elvis/Kenny Rogers/Neil Diamond fan, Larry was always known for also having an adventurous, yet carefree lifestyle as well. He was an original member of the Cleveland chapter of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club in the 1950’s. Larry was also a very loyal Cleveland/Ohio State sports fan. Above all, he was always known for being a family man and knew how to impress the ladies anywhere and everywhere he went. After high school graduation, Larry worked for Eastern Greyhound Lines as a Senior Payroll Clerk for over 10 years. He served in the US Army National Guard from 1957 until 1963 with a honorable discharge rank of Sergeant (E-5). He worked as an accountant for the Arthur G. McKee Engineering Company in Independence for almost 30 years (AKA Davy McKee). He continued his accounting career with MasterBuilders and Northern Stamping. He was always fond of the inner workings of the city. After becoming restless, Larry decided to become semi-retired and worked for the city of Bedford Height’s tax accounting department. He decided then to become fully retired and chose to volunteer at the Bedford hospital and enjoy his family. Lawrence is preceded in death by his brother Robert and is survived by his daughters Deborah (Robert) Burkett of Mantua, OH and Jennifer Malik of Bedford, OH; grandchildren Bobby, Kayla, Katie, Travis and Jacob Burkett all of Mantua, and many family members and friends who knew and loved him dearly. Family and friends will be received Sunday, June 23, from 2 – 6 PM at St. John Funeral Home, 923 Broadway Ave., Bedford, where a service will be held on Monday, June 24 at 1 PM. Burial to follow with military honors at Bedford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Fresh Air Camp with an attention to Sam Miihlbach at smiihlbach@metrohealth.org. Heartfelt love and blessings to all. It’s a moment that makes life special.
