Joseph J. Kolenic, December 17, 1937 – July 29, 2022, of Bainbridge Township, passed away suddenly at the age of 84. Joseph is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Shirley (nee Willcocks), his children, Jeff and Todd (Anne). Joseph had six grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Jeff’s children Alec and Ashton, and Todd’s children Joe, Maggie, Andrew, and Kelly. Joseph was welcomed to heaven into the arms of his loving parents Joseph and Veronica (nee Hanis) Kolenic, who preceded his death in 2001 and 2005. Joseph is survived by his siblings, Robert (Barbara), Barbara Shay (Stephen), Dorothy McDonald (Bob), and Joan Teare (Greg), along with many nieces and nephews. Joseph met his wife Shirley at TRW and married her on October 3, 1964. Joseph was passionate about golf and famously hit four hole-in-ones over his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time in his yard and was an avid landscaper. He lived for Friday nights under the lights at Kenston Bomber Football games where he was a resident on the sidelines with his dear friend, Dr. Alan Gurd. Joseph was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and loved them unceasingly. Joseph loved family gatherings and will be remembered for his warm smile, unwavering commitment to caring for his wife, and his love of the Lord. Joseph was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a graduate in 1956 from Cathedral Latin High School and was an alumnus of John Carroll University where he received his Associate Degree in Accounting in 1958. Joseph volunteered to join the Ohio National Guard and was the commander of a tank. He retired from the Guard in 1966 after aiding in the Hough Riots, at the rank of Sergeant. He worked as an accountant for 42 years for TRW. After his retirement he worked from 2003 until his death at Pepper Pike Country Club. Friends will be received at ST.
