JOHN HILARY HARGREAVES, age 81, of Bedford. Beloved husband of the late Carol Anne Hargreaves for 60 years; loving father of John Hargreaves and Jennifer (Matt) Romano; dearest grandfather of Jonathan, Bethany (Greg) Lewis, Stephen (Grace) Hargreaves and Angelina and Joseph Romano.  John was a 1958 graduate from Bedford High School.  He worked at Koltcz Concrete Block for 49 years.   He enjoyed building cars, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, camping and boating with his family and loved his schnauzers.  Our family has shared so many special memories while on vacation together at Chautauqua Lake. John was always the life of the party, his quick wit kept everyone in stiches.  He loved spending time with his friends, from all night pinochle games, laughing around the campfire with the Lazy ‘S’ Campers Club or all day backyard volleyball games with PVVA. Above all, John was always there to serve his family.  Whether it be fixing or building anything, cutting down trees, offering advice on how to do something – he was ALWAYS there.  When Carol passed away in 2020, she took a huge part of his heart with her.  We are comforted knowing that they are reunited forever now. Friends received at the St. John Funeral Home, 923 Broadway, Bedford (one mile west of Forbes-Broadway exit of I-271) on Thurs., March 24 from 6 – 8 p.m., where a closing service will be held at 8 p.m. Interment to follow on Fri., March 25 at Bedford Cemetery at 10 a.m. ( Please meet at the cemetery).
