Jane N. Cowen

JANE N. COWEN passed away peacefully at the Lantern of Chagrin Valley, South Russell, OH at the age of 85(1938-2024). Jane was born in Conneaut, Ohio to Ture and Hazel (nee Fails) Pearson, she was one of ten siblings.  Jane spent her early years working with the family business, cutting fish at the Pearson Fish Company.  Jane also enjoyed designing creative gift baskets and handmade wreaths for clients, family, and friends.  Though her top priority was caring for her two children, Jane also worked at Stonebraker Pharmacy as a bookkeeper assisting her husband of 57 years, Bob Cowen. She also was an avid bowler enjoying wins in various leagues. Anyone who was lucky enough to be a part of Jane’s life knew her true love in life was her family, to which she was totally devoted. With her husband Bob, Jane enjoyed traveling to visit her son, daughter, and Jane’s numerous siblings. Nothing brought Jane more joy than spending holidays and summer days with her grandkids, whether it was riding ATVs in the backyard, stopping for an abundance of ice cream, or trailblazing through aisle five in department stores (a story for another day).  Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert (Bob) Cowen; her son, Robert Cowen Jr.; three sisters Eleanor Kallio, Irene Williams, Doris Vendetti; and three brothers, Charles, John, and Larry Pearson. Jane is survived by her daughter, Rachel (John) Walsh of Prospect, KY; two granddaughters, Erin Walsh of Cincinnati, OH and Megan Walsh of Prospect, KY; three sisters, Rosemary Raisian of Columbus, OH, Linda Port of Las Vegas, NV., and Ruth Chun of Honolulu, Hawaii; and several nieces and nephews. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the employees of the Lantern of Chagrin Valley, the Affinity Hospice team, and Jennifer for your compassion and support throughout this process. With the respectful wishes of Jane, in lieu of a funeral, a private celebration of life will be held for immediate family members.
