HEIDI I. STULL (nee Saur), a resident of Bainbridge Township for more than 60 years, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022.  Born to Georg and Emilie Saur in Germany, Heidi met and married the love of her life, William E. Stull, in 1954. In 1960, she came to the U.S. as a post war bride with 3 small children. Heidi received Magna Cum Laude degrees from John Carroll (BA), Case Western Reserve (MA) and Kent State (Ph.D).  In 1970, she joined the faculty of John Carroll University and served as a Professor of German Studies and head of the German section of the Modern Language Department until her retirement in 1994.  During her career at JCU, Heidi initiated and directed the International Studies interdisciplinary program and introduced and taught German for Business as well as numerous translation courses.  She tirelessly and enthusiastically embraced her work, frequently publishing articles and papers, organizing work study programs for students with firms in Germany and serving as the Academic adviser for countless students.

Heidi also owned and operated an art gallery.  Through the Contemporary European Art Connection, she introduced many European artists to Cleveland.  She was an Accredited member of the American Translators Association and a Founding member of the Northeast Ohio Translators Association, serving on its Executive Board (including as President) for more than 20 years.  Since 2001, she was active with the local chapter of AARP and served on its Board of Directors. Heidi enjoyed many hobbies, including travel, hiking, reading, music, art, sewing and examining spirituality as defined by various religions of the world. She was a goodwill ambassador to countless foreign visitors from Europe to Nepal, proudly introducing them to the American way of life and culture. Heidi was proud of her heritage and traditions.  However, her greatest joy was her family, husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Heidi is predeceased by her parents, Georg and Emilie Saur, sister, Margot Saur and her husband of 62 years, William E.
