Gregory Santarelli

GREGORY SANTARELLI, age 69, of Novelty, Ohio. Dearly beloved husband of Catherine (nee Bresnan); cherished father of Justin, Tara Motheral (Ted), Griffin, and Olivia; adored Papa of Colton, Everly, and Maren; loving son of the late Edith (Trivisonno) and Dominic; treasured brother of Janis Stavana (Joel), Joyce Barna (Mike), Michael (Peggy), Cindy Krajcirik (Dave), Sue Flowers (Scott), and MaryJo Hoehnen (Scott); devoted son-in-law of Maureen Bresnan; dearest brother-in-law of Thomas Bresnan (Nancy), JoAnn Haw (Mike), Julie Norman (Allen), and Sue Bedinghaus (Ron); loving uncle of 32 nieces and nephews and loving great-uncle of 45. He was predeceased by his parents, niece Brittney, and three infant great-nieces and nephews. 

Greg died peacefully at home in Novelty, Ohio on Monday, December 18, 2023, surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, Greg was born on October 10, 1954, the fourth of seven children. He attended Catholic grade school in Cleveland Heights and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, John Carroll University, and Ohio Northern Pettit College of Law. He practiced law for a number of years and then transitioned to the aerospace industry to work in business development at Christopher Tool & Mfg. Co. in Solon. He was enthusiastic about real estate, interior design, and travel.

Greg was deeply devoted to his family. He will be most fondly remembered as a committed husband and father. He married Catherine in 1976, and they shared 47 years of shopping at Dillards, eating out at diners and Cedar Creek Grill, and going to open houses.  

Greg cherished raising his four children, and insisted that they read, see the world, and play Trivial Pursuit. He encouraged his children to take chances and follow their passions, whatever they may be, and he was known to tell them that there were no bad ideas. Greg felt like he gained another son when his oldest daughter married Ted in 2014 and in recent years, his happiest times were trying to keep up with his three young grandchildren.

(RT 306), CHAGRIN FALLS, 44023 (2.5 MILES NORTH OF RT. 422), THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2023 FROM 3-7P.M. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY DECEMBER 22^ND, 2023 11AM AT THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY ANGELS, 18205 CHILLICOTHE ROAD, CHAGRIN FALLS OH 44023.
