Eugene C. Pawlowski

EUGENE C. PAWLOWSKI, age 79.  Beloved husband of Virginia “Ginny” (nee Stapin) for 57 years; loving father of Carleen (Richard) Robideau, Marie (Donald) Calabrese, and Christopher (Cristiana); dearest grandfather of Evangeline Grace, Devan, and Juliana; dear brother of Dorothy Yusko, Edwin, Raymond, Joanne Todd, and Edward (all deceased). 

    Eugene is remembered for his love of family, whistling, birds, flowers, music, and passing these onto his children. Growing up on Aetna Road in Cleveland’s Slavic Village, he attended St. Stanislaus Elementary and graduated from Benedictine High School. Eugene enlisted in the US Marine Corps while at John Carroll and upon graduating in 1963 was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant; he was promoted to Captain while serving in Vietnam. In 1973, Eugene placed first on the CPA exam for the state of Ohio and completed an MBA in 1975 at Cleveland State University. A lifelong learner who defined his own goals, Eugene enrolled in law school at age 55 and passed the New Jersey state bar exam in 2000. Eugene was the Audit Director of Cleveland Clinic Foundation until 1995 and then at New York University (NYU).

    Eugene made an impression on everyone he knew. Though the baby of the family, his eldest brother affectionately referred to him as “Boss.” Eugene was known for his sense of humor, compassion, and humility, which made him universally well liked. He could lighten a heavy moment with the raise of an eyebrow and encouragement that better times lie ahead; always reassuring us that no matter the obstacle, we would endure.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family suggests contributions to The St. Francis Breadline or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
