Eugene Frederick Griewisch, age 89, of Bainbridge Twp., passed peacefully into eternal rest on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred (nee Newton) Griewisch of Silver Creek, NY and his wife, Donna (nee Diener) of Twin Lakes, Kent, OH.
Loving father to Daniel Griewisch and Polly (Jon) Manke. Cherished brother to Marlene Foster and the late Joanne Espersen. Loving grandfather to Jordan (Chloe) Manke, Dieter (Erica) Manke, Ernest Manke, Nina Rollyson, and “Uncle Gene” to many.
A graduate of Valparaiso University, he served in the Army, living in Georgetown, DC,
then settled in Cleveland/Shaker Hts, working at Cleveland Trust/Ameritrust, then at Leaseway Transportation which later became Penske Logistics. Retiring in 2006. He especially looked forward to & enjoyed his regular “Lunch Bunch” gatherings with former colleagues from Penske logistics: Ross Farone, Chris Frate, Steve White, Serpil Erdilek, Demetrios Samaras, Amy Ilyes, Caroline Prawira, Tony Knechtges.
A gentle, quiet, humble soul, with a sharp brain right to the end. A man of few words, was known as a great listener. He enjoyed bowling and golf leagues thru the years, harmonica club thru UH respiratory therapy, watching the birds, having flowers around, and being “dog dad” to Gidget (deceased). Donations can be made in Gene’s honor to Rescue Village.
