Donald G. Gulas, passed peacefully on November 2, 2024, surrounded by his wife, Carolyn, and loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, George W. Gulas, and Anna M. (Nagy) Gulas; and sister, Mary Ann Cowhard.
Don is survived by Carolyn June (nee Lasenyik), his loving wife of 62 years, and children, Michele Markert, Karin Pillar, Maureen Wagner (Keith), John Gulas (Amy Morocco), and Stephanie Gulas. His grandchildren, Craig Markert, Nicole McHenry, Ashley Wagner, Lee Wagner, Kaitlyn Kramer, Megan Pillar, Victoria Brandt, Johnathan Brandt, Samuel Gulas, and Lucas Gulas; Great Grandchildren, KJ, Eli, Legend, Austin, Brooke, and Kacey. Also, his siblings, Rose Marie Sumerauer (Erich), and Charles Gulas (Gil Smith).
Don enjoyed reunions with his many Gulas, and Nagy cousins and the St. Catherine School and Benedictine high School Alumni.
Don was a proud graduate of Benedictine High School, Class of 1961, and active in the Boy Scouts. He met Carolyn, the love of his life, at Boy Scout camp. He and Carolyn greatly enjoyed camping and traveling with their children over many years, around Lake Erie and in Chincoteague, Virginia. Don was a passionate fisherman, and captain of The Fish Catcher, his steadfast boat. Lake Erie was his paradise. He also excelled at tinkering in his garage and sharing a beer with family and friends. Telling tall tales was Don’s speciality!
Don was employed by Cleveland Twist Drill and Lake Erie Screw as a plant manager.
The family thanks the many Cleveland Clinic nurses who provided excellent, compassionate care to Don throughout his illness.
Friends and family will be received at the St. John Funeral Home, 16381 Chillicothe Rd. (Rt. 306), Chagrin Falls, 44023 (2.5 miles north of Rt. 422) on Sunday, November 10 from 1:00 P.M. -4:00 P.M. with a closing service at 4:00 P.M.
