Deborah L. Borror

October 5, 1950 — March 10, 2025

Deborah Lockemer-Hope Borror, 74, of Bainbridge, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025. Surrounded by her loved ones, she passed peacefully in her sleep.

She leaves behind her three loving children, Ivan Borror and twins Adam and Melissa Borror, as well as her “furbaby grandchildren" dogs Brook, Lake and Goose.

Debbie will be missed dearly by her siblings Mark Lockemer, Karen Stewart, Harry Lockemer, David Lockemer, William Lockemer and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Debbie grew up in Bainbridge, Ohio, was a 1969 graduate of Kenston High School and then attended Cuyahoga Community College.

After graduation, Debbie was a cook at Hamlet Hills. Her talent in the kitchen led her to a high position in the kitchen!!

Debbie met James Borror on April 1, 1978 and just three months later, on July 1, 1978, they were married!!

Having known each other from high school, they were starting their new life together, building their own home in Chagrin Falls. Debbie and Jim were married 45 years until Jim’s passing in 2023.

Debbie wore many hats as the accountant, manager and doer-of-all things for Boyle Plumbing, Jim's own business. Impressively she ran his busy business while at the same time she was at home taking care of her three young and active children. Active, as in, young Ivan running away from home when he found out there were not just one, but two newborn babies at home!!

Debbie's children share that their mom was the best mother to them. She also was a second mother to many of her children’s friends. She was always ready to help them with whatever they needed, whether it be homework, shuttling them to sports, practices, horseback riding lessons or the roller rinks on both the east and west side of Cleveland!

She was very involved with their education. She helped start the learning disability program at Kenston school district. She was a huge advocate for her children to make sure they got the help that they needed. She also was very involved with the Kenston boosters. She enjoyed her time, helping the school and making many friends.

Debbie took great pride in cooking for her family, (she was an incredible cook and baker) and always had a home cooked meal on the table by 6:00 pm every night. Christmas time brought out the best in Debbie’s baking as she had many different cookies she loved to share with family and friends.

The holidays were an enjoyable time for her as she loved to have several Christmas trees in the house, big and small, adorned with many lights. She found great comfort in looking at them, and her many Santa figurines, during the evenings. Debbie truly embraced the spirit of Christmas and giving to others.

Debbie had a deep love for animals, but especially her cats! She and her family had many cats over the years in their home on Beacon Hill Drive. Her favorite cat was Mickey Blue Eyes, a Flamed point Himalayan. She also adored her cat, Charlotte, who is a rescue. Debbie ran a small business where she bred and raised both African Gray and Eclectus parrots, both very rare breeds of the birds. Her family has wonderful memories of her raising her birds and Debbie finding great joy in placing them in loving homes.

Debbie shared her love of animals with her daughter, Melissa. Traveling to horse shows together and camping in Melissa's horse trailer were the perfect and most memorable get-aways for them. Always helping Melissa and never wanting to miss one horse show, Melissa speaks of Debbie's unwavering support. Melissa knows she will forever have her mom watching over her any time she is on a horse.

Some of Debbie’s most special memories were her scuba diving trips with Jim. Together they traveled to St Barths, Belize, and Honduras. They also did several white water rafting trips.

Laughing and having a good time with her dive buddies brought her so much happiness. Many say Debbie was one of a kind, outspoken but also incredibly sweet, kind and caring and would truly do anything for anybody.

Debbie loved traveling with her family to special vacation spots; Quebec for fishing, Seabrook Island and Hilton Head. During these trips she loved to play card games, Uno or work on puzzles with Jim and their kids.

Once the kids got older, Jim and Debbie would take nice winter get away trips to Hilton Head, SC where they would visit Debbie's mom, Joanne Lockemer.

Debbie had a green thumb and always had beautiful flowers on display and surrounding her home. She had a greenhouse attached to their barn and there she would plant beautiful flowers that she would eventually pot and place around her pool and deck. She took great pride in both her rose and vegetable gardens. Having a beautiful yard with great landscaping, plantings and flowers brought Debbie much happiness. She especially loved doing yard work with her family. A favorite of hers was to host pool parities in the summer, inviting friends and family over for a fun time. Sometimes the parties would get out of hand and the garden hose would wind up in the house! She also loved to make Brunswick Stew with her family.

Another love for summertime was driving her gorgeous, “Baby”, an Oldsmobile 442, gifted to her by Jim that is now cared for by her son Adam.

Debbie's children are at ease, knowing she is now with their Dad and they’re together eternally. Melissa, Ivan and Adam would like to invite friends and family to join them in celebrating Debbie and share your best stories and memories of their Mom.

In honor of Debbie and her love of all animals, the family asks that all donations be made in her memory to Rescue Village, Novelty, OH. https://www.rescuevillage.org/
