Dale Matthew Jakab

Dale Matthew Jakab, 71, of Willoughby Hills, passed away peacefully surrounded by family following a courageous battle with cancer. Dale was the son of the late Duke and Alice Jakab. He graduated from Benedictine High School in 1968, received his BA at University of Dayton and received his MA in Psychology from The Ohio State University. His professional career spanned over 45 years. Dale worked in the Springfield, Ohio public schools, Shaker Heights Schools as a school psychologist, Solon Board of Education as Coordinator of Pupil Services, and his all-time favorite was at his Alma Mater, Benedictine High School, where he worked in a variety of roles since 2017. Anyone who knew Dale, knew that he loved all Cleveland Sports, music, Broadway musicals, Hilton Head Island, and golf. His greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Fanelli) of 43 years, his children, Justin (Jess), Lindsay Duffy (Patrick), and Jordan (fiancé, Shawn). He was Papa to Grayson and Nora Jakab, Payton, Jake, and Parker Duffy, sisters, Jill and Suzi Owen (Tim), brother-in-law Dominic (Marie) Fanelli, uncle to Tara Fanelli, Megan MacHatton, and Kelli Winham. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, January 7,2023 at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi, Gates Mills, OH 44124. Friends will be received at DiCicco & Sons Funeral Home, 5975 Mayfield Rd, Mayfield Hts., Friday, January 6, 2023 from 3 PM to 7 PM. Burial at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Dale to Benedictine High School, Attn. Advancement Office, 2900 MLK Jr. Dr., Cleveland, OH 44104 and Hospice of the Western Reserve.
