Erin Kirn Manley, age 79, quietly passed away in her apartment in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, surrounded by her family and her best friend, on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Born on May 7, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, Erin and her family lived in Columbus and Akron before settling in Richmond, Virginia, where she met her, husband, the late William D. Manley. She attended the Richmond Polytechnic Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University). With Bill and her young family, Erin moved to, and remained in, Chagrin Falls after brief stops in Cleveland and St. Louis. Her great love of literature led her later in life to study English at John Carroll University in Cleveland, graduating summa cum laude.
Of the many people Erin cherished and nurtured, she was entirely devoted to her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren: Chris and Theresa Manley of Chagrin Falls and their children, Peter (Jackelyn) Rosegger and Stephen (Alyssa) Rosegger; Ted and Carol Manley of Columbus, and their children, Evan and Gigi; and John and Kathryn Manley of Chicago and their children, Jane, Cogan and Margaret. She also leaves behind her loving and devoted siblings, Anita Pleasants, Mary Cheryl Henderson (Mark), William Kirn and Jill Kirn (Glenn Sirkis). We will all miss Erin’s sweet sensitivity and grace, her sharp sense of humor and her genuine connection with everyone she encountered.
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at St. John Funeral Home, 16381 Chillicothe Rd. (Rt. 306), Chagrin Falls, OH 44023 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September, 20, 2018 at Church of the Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Rd. (Rt. 306), Chagrin Falls, OH 44023. (Please meet at church) Interment to follow Mass at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Chagrin Falls. A luncheon will be held with details to follow.
